My son, my finger, my first show

It has been 3 weeks since the dreaded "finger incident"
things have not slowed down
not one bit

My finger has healed better than I ever imagined
so much better
oh so much better

and
things are just clicking along

just two days before we head to LaBahia for
Antiques Week in Warrenton/Round Top

this will be my first show with my very own booth

so excited, so nervous

My hard working man has the trailer 3/4 packed...
just a few boxes and misc windows, doors, chairs etc to put in

and because we are in no rush :}

we headed to Nacogdoches to see our son in the
Lumberjack Marching Band this past weekend

Yep, that is him in all his handsomeness...

he hates hats...so as soon as there is a break
he frees his head

this little circle thing is something the saxophones do after the halftime performance
artsy kids
you never know what they will come up with
they are involved in some kind of special dance
they have the best time in this band!

while we were waiting for the band to enter the stadium
we relaxed under a beautiful tree
and to the left of this tree is the student tailgating section
Troy and I walked through this once
I didn't belong
oh my
let's just say
oh my

anywho....

I have had tons of help before and since my
"finger incident"
here we have all hands on deck to remove the thousands of nails and staples from a chair to be re-upholstered....not looking like it is going to make the cut for this show though

My sister
I looove my sister!!!
She called the week I had my
"finger incident"
and said...."I need to help"
I told her I was ok but she insisted

so Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago she shows up
to help
with this
big
ole
cinnamon roll

it doesn't look very big here but
let. me. tell. you.
that plate measures 9 inches across
there you go

yes
I ate it

ok

she also came walking in with a pan of homemade burritos

did I mention that I love my sister?

we spent all day putting together weathered boards to make some signs for the show
she was such a huge help
since my finger was wrapped like this

is that not hilarious?
I mentioned to the nurse at the orthopedic surgeons office
that it is amazing how often you hit your middle finger
she said "oh, ok, I'll give you a little extra padding"

really? talk about hard to work with....

ok...time to get busy...
I will take pics as things progress in a few days

at least it is cooler
down to 90
woohoo!!!

sometimes....things just happen

and we do not know why....they just happen...
i am pressing forward anyway
hoping to get things finished
ready
for Round Top Antiques Week
I am super excited, nervous and exhausted already
but pressing forward

and then

i have great respect for power tools
i know they are bigger and stronger than me
i am VERY careful and mindful when i use them
but
sometimes
things.just.happen.

the table saw won this one
but i am not defeated
just set back a little

i am instructed to....
take a break from my job
no cleaning teeth for a week....
to take my pain meds and antibiotics...
and to see a hand specialist....

so
because i am a rule follower
i will do all of the above
and
i will press forward

and

i am thankful for 18 year old sons
that bust into gear and hold their mom's other hand
even though she is squeezing it beyond anything he has felt before
and never leaving a treatment room
even though he felt a little nauseous and light headed
and calling his dad with a calm voice
even though he knew his dad would freak out a little
yes i am so thankful for my son
who kept me calm even though i knew he wasn't on the inside

this saga

to be continued.....
