Poor Decorating...

I love Fall...I really do...I just have not taken the time to do very much, if at all any, decorating....I need to get busy...we do Thanksgiving at my house and I like it to look festive...anyway...Here is the extent of my decorating so far....
My youngest loves nothing more than roasted pumpkin seeds...now that he is 16 I feel no guilt in saying...you scoop out that stuff and I will roast the seeds...He agreed, carved a great pumpkin, and I roasted the seeds...in butter and salt...lots of butter and salt...excellent...

The extent of my fall decorating has been what my youngest son has done and these grapevine pumpkins that I put in some planters on the front porch. I know...pathetic...I agree...
but...
excuse me...
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED!!!
Look closely...he blends in so well....

My oldest son called from college...had gone to Starbucks for coffee and was headed back to the dorm and was talking about how cool it was up there...the cool front had already moved through...oh to be in college again and getting Starbucks at 8 pm...anywho
I stepped out on my front porch to see if it was cooler here...
turned around...
lost my  breath...
couldn't talk....
couldn't move...
almost pee'd my pants...
This does not look very intimidating while in the house, taking a pic through the window....but when it is suspended between the planter and your front door that you just walked out of...oh my...Needless to say...
I did not go back through this door to get in the house...

So when it is time for Christmas decorating...who...who...is going to remove that grapevine pumpkin from the front porch....

hmmm...

A Sweet Find

I was out and about last week and decided to stop by Goodwill. I never find an abundance of treasures there but the occasional frame and lamp shade. But this time I came across this and I just loved it...

It looks like a giant Mint Julep cup. I am sure it is silver plate...but it is heavy and in pretty good shape.
I  bought some hydrangeas (my absolute most favorite flower right behind a pink rose) at the grocery store and put it on my kitchen counter...just love it.
I found the tray back in the summer at Winnie Trade Days...It was a whopping $2...the base was brassy, scratched and dinged up...my what a little ASCP and wax will do!!! I am thinking these treasures just found a new home on my kitchen counter...

Having a great weekend!!

HOME

We watched "It's Complicated"...again... last night. Well, I watched it and my boys complained that it was a chick flick...whatever!!! Anyway...I was once again 'taken' with the house that Meryl Streep lives in in this movie. I just love how homey and comfortable it is...
The outside....

Love the living room...the seating, side tables, books...I also love how it is mostly neutral with pops of color...

Love the kitchen...yes it is small, but it keeps you from running around crazy. my kitchen is small...I do not mind.

I REALLY love the open shelving, so casual...how dusty does this get...I hate to dust, but love the look.

The master bedroom looks so relaxing, and again...neutral...I really want to go this direction in my house!!

And OH,OH,OH,...the Bakery...I so wish we had this in Huffman...ok, well maybe Atascocita or Kingwood
:)

Ok, enough dreaming...I have soo many projects that are started and not finished...I need to be motivated today to get something done...actually...finished...

Have a great day!!

I NEED MORE TIME...

I am so ready to change the style of my home...I have started, but it seems there is just never enough time. I have done a little in my dining room. Removed my curtains, painted some chairs, added slips over the back, made my table runner, changed up some decor and re-arranged the china hutch...ok, I guess I have done some, but I would really like to make curtains in there, and my biggie is to make a new slip cover for my couch in the living room.
Here is the "hoof box" on my dining room table...

Here is a little shot of the slip cover on the back of the chair...it has ties on each side...I painted the big "T" on the backs. Made from drop cloths...    :)
I did a little "shabbying" on my china hutch and re-arranged to make it look more casual..I like the look...
On a different note...my manly man asked if I wanted to go out Friday night for my favorite meal...oh,oh,oh...it was sooo good...started out with Greek Salad...

Then came the Shrimp Brochette....oh these are to die for...

I have been logging my calories on "My Fitness Pal" and have tried to get serious about my weight...not terrible but a pesky 15 pounds that I go round and round with every few years. Needless to say...I went ahead and logged out of myfitnesspal and had a great time!!! I think that is important every now and then!!!

Hoping for a great week!!!

Quick Trip

This week a friend and I made a break neck speed trip to Round Top Antiques Week. It was on Tuesday... we left early in the morning and got back around 8pm that night. We found a few treasures...well what we thought were treasures!!
On the way home we stopped at Leftovers. Fabulous place if you have never been...fabulous place if you have been...Any way...I saw this saxophone lamp...oh my, how cool is this. My son plays saxophone...I will be on the hunt for one that does not cost an arm and leg and see if I can make this...love it.

I will post some pics of our "treasures" soon....
